How GPI works
- GridPower Index (GPI) is Nats Stats Pro's league-wide team strength grid. Each club gets a 0–100 score and rank 1–30 based on three normalized inputs:
- Win% (45%) — current season winning percentage.
- Run differential per game (35%) — total runs scored minus allowed, divided by games played.
- Pythagorean expectation (20%) — expected win rate from runs scored and allowed (MLB-standard 1.83 exponent).
- Each component is min–max scaled across all 30 teams, then weighted into GPI. Higher GPI = stronger overall profile right now.
- GPI is not an MLB official stat — it's a Nats Stats composite for matchup context on the schedule and playoff race tracking.
